Hello world, here it goes my request.

I am looking for free education, music lessons, language lessons, skill training and all sorts of other in-person learning opportunities.

So far I’ve taught myself using various online resources to play the guitar, piano, songwriting, and to speak English (want to know in detail how I learned English, peek here), Spanish, and French, also graphic designing, negotiation, and English writing. The tools I’ve used often includes Coursera, Duolingo, Youtube, Curious, Lingvist, Power Thesaurus, and Shanbay (a Chinese website for building English vocabularies).

I am very amazed at the free learning opportunities one can have today by our fingertips. It’s good to see that formal education is no longer the only stepping-stone to success. We have access to free learning resources everywhere on the internet.

Why am I still looking for learning opportunities then?

First, for me there’s never enough opportunities for learning and growing. A life time is almost too short for me to learn all that I want.

Second, if you read my second paragraph closely, I am looking for in-person learning opportunities. It’s different. Learning online is nothing like learning with a real person. The real-time interaction makes all the difference and is what makes traditional classroom education irreplaceable.

If I rank the effectiveness of the learning methods for myself:

  1. one-on-one private lesson
  2. traditional classroom
  3. learning online

I actually learn faster by myself than sitting in a classroom if the subject is relatively easy. At the same time, I feel more motivated and energetic learning with another person.

The hardest thing for me while learning online is to stay focused. I get distracted all the time by incoming emails, Facebook messages, sometimes jumping into a complete different subject that seems more appealing to me at the time.

I can’t afford college. So online learning partly saved me from being an ignorant brat, with the other half being learning from life itself.

Therefore, I’m seeking more in-person learning opportunities. I invite you to join me, if you too can not afford college but are eager to learn.

Let’s find better ways to learn.

Let’s walk that off-the-beaten path.

Let’s make education free for all.

Perhaps I sound naïve, but the best things in life is for free, after all.

Why not leave me a comment to share with everyone your experiences with online learning tools and if you’re interested in teaching me something for free, I’d be more than happy to hear from you. My contact information is on the front page of the website.
